Golf ball was previously called Feathery balls because it was made from feather and leather. As a result, golf balls were really expensive and this sport was only played by royal families, elite class and very wealthy people.

When GUTTY, the first ever rubber golf ball was invented, due to lower raw material and manufacturing cost, its price dropped from 5 shilling to around 1 shilling. This has brought the game of golf to the masses as a result of lower price ball.
